The Downing-McPeak Ambulatory Surgery Center was Kentucky's first Medicare-Certified and State Licensed Outpatient Surgical Center dedicated exclusively to eyecare.

The center's two surgical suites are equipped with the latest state-of-the-art ophthalmic surgical equipment. All types of eye surgeries are performed in the ASC including no-stitch intraocular lens implant cataract surgery.

The Ambulatory Surgery Center of Downing-McPeak Vision Centers has been awarded a three-year certificate of accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). The certificate is the highest level of recognition offered by the accrediting organization. Accreditation means that the Downing-McPeak Surgery Center has met or exceeded rigorous and national standards for quality health care. In order to achieve AAAHC accreditation, Downing-McPeak underwent an extensive on-site survey of its facility and services. The survey team, composed of physicians and health care administrators, evaluated all aspects of patient care. Not all ambulatory health care organizations seek accreditation and not all who undergo an on-site survey receive favorable decisions. The AAAHC conducts its accreditation program on a national basis and has accredited more than 500 ambulatory health care organizations.
